Terms of Service
Last updated: July 8, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Shortmaker (shortmaker.app) and its features (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Shortmaker is a web-based studio for making short-form videos — ranked compilations, split-screen reactions, commentary voiceovers, downloading, and transcription — and for publishing finished videos to YouTube. We may add, change, or remove features over time.
2. Accounts
You sign in with Google. You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your Google login secure. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) and able to form a binding contract to use the Service.
3. Your content and responsibilities
You retain ownership of the content you upload or create. You grant us a limited license to process and store it solely to operate the Service for you (for example, to render and publish your videos).
You are solely responsible for the content you provide and process, and you represent that:
- you own it or have the necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to use it;
- your use — including downloading or reusing third-party videos — complies with all applicable laws and with the terms of the platforms the content comes from (such as YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram);
- it does not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights; and
- it is not unlawful, harmful, or abusive.
Shortmaker is a tool; you are responsible for how you use it and for the videos you create and publish. We do not grant you any rights to third-party content.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to disrupt it, reverse-engineer it, access it without authorization, or use it to infringe others’ rights or violate the law.
5. YouTube publishing
When you publish to YouTube, you use the YouTube API Services. By doing so you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and your data is handled per the Google Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the videos you publish to your channel.
6. Subscriptions and billing
Paid plans are sold through our third-party merchant of record, which handles payment, tax, and receipts. Plans include a 7-day free trial; after the trial, the subscription renews automatically ($29/month, or $228/year) until cancelled. You can cancel at any time and will keep access through the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law or stated otherwise, payments are non-refundable. Prices may change with notice for future billing periods.
7. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by Shortmaker and protected by law. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks or branding.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that output will meet your requirements.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shortmaker will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if necessary to protect the Service or other users.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
